External Bank of Algeria
Overview
BEA is a state-owned bank founded in 1967, historically focused on foreign trade and on large energy and industrial companies. It was the second-largest Algerian bank by total assets at end-2025 and holds the largest deposit base. Since November 2025 it operates a French subsidiary, BEA International Bank, aimed mainly at the Algerian diaspora and trade between the two countries.
