UK visa from Algeria in 2026: visitor visa, fees and the TLScontact centres
The UK is not in Schengen, so it needs its own visa. You apply on GOV.UK, give biometrics at TLScontact in Algiers or Oran, and since April 2026 the six-month visitor visa costs £135.
Algerian citizens need a visa for any visit to the United Kingdom, including a short tourist trip or a connection that leaves the airport. The application, payment and document upload happen on GOV.UK; TLScontact runs the visa application centres in Algiers and Oran for fingerprints, photo and passport handling. The UK’s electronic travel authorisation (ETA) is for visa-free nationalities, so it does not replace the visa for Algerians.

Step by step
- Fill in the visitor application on GOV.UK in English and pay the fee online.
- You are sent to TLScontact to book an appointment in Algiers or Oran. Standard appointments are included in the fee; extra services at the centre are optional.
- Upload your documents online or bring them, as TLScontact instructs. Documents not in English or Welsh need a certified translation.
- Attend the appointment for fingerprints and photo, and hand in your passport if asked.
- Collect the passport with the vignette and check the dates and name.
Documents that make a visitor file strong
- A valid passport and any previous passports with UK, Schengen, US or Canadian visas.
- Six months of bank or CCP statements whose balance and movements match your income.
- Proof of income and job: employer letter with salary and approved leave, or business register and tax returns.
- A clear plan: dates, where you will stay, and an invitation letter if visiting family or a company.
- Proof of ties in Algeria: family, property, studies.
How long it takes
For visit visas the Home Office usually decides within about three weeks of your appointment, and longer at busy times. Priority services may be offered at an extra fee. Do not book non-refundable flights before the decision.
Study and work visas
Student
Needs a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed university, English at the required level and proof of funds held for 28 days.
Skilled Worker
Needs a job offer from a licensed sponsor at the required salary and skill level. Sponsors may not charge you for the certificate.
Chevening
The UK government’s master’s scholarship is open to Algerians. See our scholarships guide.
If you are refused
- The refusal letter explains the reasons. Visit visas have no full right of appeal.
- You can reapply at any time with evidence that answers the reasons.
- Every refusal must be declared in later UK, US, Canadian and many other applications. Never hide one.
