Wise
Wise in Algeria 2026: fees, DZD transfers, can residents open it?
The multi-currency account most of the diaspora already uses to send money home
Wise holds and converts more than 40 currencies at the mid-market rate plus a visible fee, and it advertises local DZD delivery to Algerian bank accounts on several routes, such as euros from France and dollars from the US. For the diaspora it is often the cheapest regulated way to send money home. For people living in Algeria the picture is narrower: some features depend on your country of residence, and the card is not issued to every country.
If you live in Algeria
PartlyPartly. Algeria is not on Wise’s list of unsupported countries, but holding balances and getting the card depend on where you live, and the Wise card is not offered to Algerian addresses. Check what the app offers you before relying on it for client payments.
If you live abroad
WorksWorks well if you live in Europe, the UK, North America or the Gulf. You get local account details, a debit card and transfers to Algerian bank accounts in DZD on the routes Wise supports.

Getting the money into dinars
Wise converts at the official mid-market rate, which tracks the Bank of Algeria rate, not the Square. The dinars your family receives through Wise will therefore be well below what the same euros fetch on the parallel market. That is the trade-off for a regulated, traceable transfer.
